The first beta of the forthcoming KDE 4.11 Software Compilation is now available. KDE 4.11 features greater use of Qt Quick in Plasma Workspaces, KWin supports creating OpenGL 3.1 Core contexts, and KWin is beginning to work on Wayland.

This KDE 4.11 Beta isn't a huge surprise with already having talked about the KDE 4.11 features in the days prior. The KWin OpenGL 3.1 Core support and initial Wayland support are perhaps the most interesting changes for end-users, plus there's faster Nepomuk indexing and other goodies.

More details on the KDE 4.11 Beta 1 changes can be found via the KDE.org announcement.
