After being in development for several years, the first release candidate of the wxWidgets 3.0 tool-kit is now available. This update to the wxWidgets cross-platform GUI tool-kit has received extensive changes to make this a very exciting and worthwhile upgrade.

Among the features to wxWidgets 3.0 include better and simpler support for Unicode, a new OS X / Cocoa port, 64-bit OS X support, and support for the GTK+ 3 tool-kit within wxGTK. There's also many other new features and changes.

In manually going through the change-log, there's a new webview library with wxWebView as a wrapper for the native platform web engine with HTML/JavaScript support, a new ribbon library for advanced tool-bars, support for event loops/timers/sockets without GUIs, support for persistent objects automatically saving/restoring state, and various other additions.

More details on this major update to the cross-platform wxWidgets user-interface tool-kit can be found at wxWidgets.org.
