A few days back I shared OpenGL benchmarks of Fedora 19, Fedora 20, Ubuntu 13.04, and Ubuntu 13.10. For those not interested in the CPU performance of these four Linux distributions, those results are now available.

The CPU-based benchmarks comparing the latest stable and development releases of Ubuntu and Fedora Linux are much less interesting than the OpenGL results with the constantly-evolving open-source graphics drivers. However, thanks to the kernel differences and compiler updates, there are some differences.

All of the compute benchmarks to the recent Fedora 19/20 vs. Ubuntu 13.04/13.10 testing can be found on OpenBenchmarking.org via the 1310074-SO-COMPUTETE66 result file. Testing happened from the System76 Galago UltraPro ultrabook with Intel Core i7 "Haswell" processor and Iris Pro graphics.

Hit up that link for all of the benchmark results and system information; embedded below are just some of the more interesting test results for this Linux four-way. You can add to these results in a side-by-side and fully-automated way by installing the Phoronix Test Suite and simply run phoronix-test-suite benchmark 1310074-SO-COMPUTETE66.
