After a few months with developer preview phones and then getting 18 carriers interested in the fledging mobile platform, the first Mozilla Firefox OS phones are ready to ship to consumers.

Mozilla in cooperation with Deutsche Telekom and Telefonica are releasing the ALCATEL ONE TOUCH Fire and the ZTE Open phones, which are powered by the new mobile platform. The devices are supposed to appear "soon" and are centered around the web and HTML5 app development.

For more details about Firefox OS itself and the forthcoming devices, see this Mozilla blog post from Monday.
