Version 7.2.0 of the xf86-video-ati DDX driver was released this morning. While the X.Org drivers aren't too exciting these days with most of the really great work happening within the DRM or Mesa/Gallium3D drivers, there's still an interesting number of changes to xf86-video-ati 7.2.0 for Radeon GPU hardware support.

Among the new AMD Radeon GPUs supported by xf86-video-ati 7.2.0 are the Oland and Hainan as part of the Radeon HD 8000 (CIK / Sea Islands) hardware enablement. There's also new Southern Islands (Radeon HD 7000 series) PCI IDs as well as the AMD Richland and Kabini APU PCI IDs.

This Radeon DDX driver update also has Reverse PRIME / Optimus support that was just committed to Git a few days ago. The Radeon HD 7000 Southern Islands (RadeonSI) support now also has 2D tiling with this DDX driver update. GLAMOR 2D acceleration is also enabled by default for RadeonSI with this driver.

Last but not least there's a lot of bug-fixes, minor performance optimizations, and other changes to find with xf86-video-ati 7.2.0. The full list of the Radeon driver changes can be found via the mailing list change-log.
