OpenIndiana, the operating system seeking to let Sun Microsystems' OpenSolaris project live on within the open-source community, is finally out with an update. This isn't a stable OpenIndiana release but rather is still a pre-release to 151a.

OpenIndiana 151a pre-stable 8 is the new release this week. The OpenIndiana 151a 8 release focuses upon bug and security fixes along with bumping some package versions.

Among the updated packages in this OpenIndiana 151a release include PHP, Unrar, Wireshark, BIND, Fetchmail, and Gzip.

More details on the OpenIndiana 151a pre-stable 8 release can be found via the OpenIndiana.org release notes.
