The first alpha test release of the upcoming Wayland 1.4 with Weston 1.4 reference compositor is now available for testing.

The Wayland/Weston 1.4 Alpha versions met Kristian Høgsberg's expectations for all the features he desired and now he wants the Wayland developers to move onto bug-fixing for this latest quarterly release.

Kristian is hoping for a beta release on 2 January, a second beta on 9 January, and then the official release on 15 January.

The Wayland/Weston 1.4 Alpha release announcement can be read on the Wayland mailing list. Coming up in another article shortly will be details on all of the Wayland 1.4 features and other new/improved functionality.
