KDE Plasma 2 Technology Preview Released

The KDE development community has put out the first official technology preview of the upcoming Plasma 2 user-interface.

Plasma 2 is built atop QML with Qt5 and Qt Quick 2 to provide Open GL/GLES acceleration. Supported by this first technology preview is the desktop shell. This first Plasma 2 tech preview has all basic functionality but more advanced features from KDE Plasma Workspaces 1 is still being brought ahead and with other improvements ahead. The KDE Frameworks 5 port of the KWin window manager is close to production quality with this first technology preview.

Also announced today was the release of Plasma Media Center 1.2.
