KDE developers have unleashed their first monthly stable point release in the KDE 4.12 series that contains the latest applications and platform work in the pre-Qt5 pre-Frameworks5 world.

KDE 4.12.1 corrects 45 bugs and is mostly focused upon improving Kontact, Umbrello, Okular, Konqueror, and Dolphin.

This isn't the most exciting KDE point release given that most developers are tasked with working on Plasma 2, porting software to KDE Frameworks 5, etc, but for end-users it's out today and more details can be learned at KDE.org. Last week a KDE Frameworks 5 Tech Preview was released following in the KDE Plasma 2 Tech Preview from last month while all of these next-generation KDE software technologies will be stabilized in the months ahead.
