After yesterday sharing a few early OpenGL benchmarks between Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS and 14.04 LTS in its current development form, here are a number of processor and system benchmarks between the two Long-Term Support Ubuntu Linux releases.

From the CompuLab Intense-PC -- that's also being used for our low-power Linux PC Benchmarks -- the petite Intel Core i7 "Ivy Bridge" system was benchmarked under Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS and then Ubuntu 14.04 with its daily ISO as of Saturday. These numbers are just to offer an early glimpse at what you can likely expect out of Ubuntu 14.04 if you normally stick to the Ubuntu LTS releases.

Many more benchmarks on Ubuntu 14.04 vs. 12.04 LTS and friends will come as the April release approaches and will be benchmarked from a wide range of systems.
