Mir, the display server currently powering Ubuntu Touch and will be on the desktop side with Ubuntu 14.10, is working on its screen-casting support.

An interesting commit that hit Mir's development tree this week ships a "MirOutputCapture" class and with that work is changes towards Mir screen-cast support -- for ultimately beaming Mir's display over the wire in being able to share surfaces in a VNC-like setup.

The work still appears to be in early stages but the work that tipped us off was Revision 1359.
