The EFL 1.8 release for the Enlightenment project should be out next week and there's already plans for releasing EFL 1.9 in February!

EFL 1.8 got its documentation updated today followed by tagging 1.8-beta2. The Enlightenment Foundation Libraries have seen a lot of work lately, including improving its Wayland support, bug-fixes, JPEG 2000 support in Evas, pointer abstractions, Evas can now asynchronously upload OpenGL textures, improved stability, and there's been plenty of other changes. The complete (and very lengthy) change-log can be found via the Git viewer.

Meanwhile, hitting the Enlightenment development mailing list is a new message from Stefan Schmidt. He indicates that 1.8 is moving along well and he thinks they should be able to release it by Sunday or Monday.

Immediately following the 1.8 release, the EFL 1.9 merge window will open while it will close out at the end of the year followed by two periods of stabilization. The goal with EFL 1.9 will be to release it by the end of February: 24 February has been scheduled as the tentative launch date.
