The first (and only) beta of the upcoming OpenMandriva Lx 2014.0 distribution is now available.

The OpenMandriva Lx 2014.08 Beta features many bug-fixes, many key package updates, IcedTea-Web now works well on Firefox for the Java plug-in, the KDE version is at 4.12.3, and the Linux kernel powering this distribution is the 3.13 release series. This new release is codenamed "Phosphorus" by its creators.

Expected next is a OpenMandriva Lx 2014.0 release candidate around 4 April and then to do the final release around 18 April, pending any last minute snafus.

More details today on the Mandrake-derived Mandriva-forked OpenMandriva Lx 2014.0 Beta release can be found via the release blog announcement.
