Synaptics 1.8.0 X.Org Driver Released

The latest X.Org driver update for the Synaptics touch hardware is now available.

New to the xf86-input-synaptics 1.8.0 driver is new laptop/device support for a secondary software button area on newer Lenovo ThinkPad systems such as the T440, T540, X240, Helix, and Yoga.

The event communication back-end of the Synaptics input driver also uses the evdev library (libevdev) by default.

More details on this improved input driver for many laptops on the market can be found via Peter Hutterer's 1.8.0 release announcement. Peter also released xf86-input-synaptics 1.7.6 that contains back-ported fixes to the 1.7 driver series.
