Version 1.9 of the Git distributed revision control system was released this afternoon.

Git 1.9 begins aligning planned changes for Git 2.0., there's several new Git sub-commands / options, performance improvements, and many fixes over Git 1.8.x.

Those interested in finding out more about the Git 1.9.0 changes can find all of the details in full via the 1.9 Git tag. Last month I also wrote more about the Git 1.9 changes and 1.9 RC1 that ended out January.
