UBUNTU
The latest Ubuntu App Showdown is now taking place for trying to promote more applications for Ubuntu's SDK that's important for their mobile endeavours as well as their Linux desktop.

The third Ubuntu App Showdown contest is now taking place for trying to push new "apps" onto Ubuntu with its focus on the mobile platform while remaining compatible with Ubuntu on the desktop. Focuses for this latest "showdown" include Ubuntu Apps for those original pieces of software written in QML and JavaScript/C++, HTML5 apps, ported apps from another platform, and another category is for Chinese apps. Original and Chinese-specific applications are allowed in this latest category.

The five main judges plus two Chinese judges will base the applications on their general interest, convergence support, features, quality, design, awareness / promotion, and Chinese culture. See the aforelinked blog post for more details.

Jono Bacon, the Ubuntu Community Manager at Canonical, has already blogged about his top 5 Ubuntu dream apps for those interested developers.
