Eric Anholt's big Intel patch-set to the GLAMOR acceleration architecture has now been merged for the mainline X.Org Server.

Lately we have been talking a lot about GLAMOR -- the method of 2D acceleration over OpenGL for X.Org and is universal across drivers/hardware -- with Intel developers as of late devoting a lot of resources to improving the code. With the X.Org Server 1.16 release happening in a few months, the GLAMOR code goes from being its own standalone library to now living within the server's code-base, which is allowing for some significant improvements.

The latest big series of GLAMOR improvements -- which consist of nearly three dozen patches -- by Intel's Eric Anholt and others can allow some operations to be 700~800% faster. This "mega series" code with the better part of a thousand lines of code changed, has now been merged into the xorg-server.

This code will be part of X.Org Server 1.16 with its expected stable debut in July.
