GTK+ and GNOME Wayland support were frequent focal discussion points at this year's GUADEC -- GNOME's annual conference -- for getting rid of X11.

At GUADEC 2014 this week Matthias Clasen talked up GTK+ improvements, Jasper St.Pierre talked up GNOME Wayland work, and other work of interest to Phoronix readers. Jasper St.Pierre specifically talked about X11 security issues and limitations and other problems.

While I wasn't out at GUADEC this year and without rattling about the usual information most Phoronix-reading Wayland-fans already know, if you're interested in the information covered about these topics from this year's GNOME developer conference, see this excellent FedoraMagazine.org posting with all the detailed summaries.
