The second alpha release to Mageia 5 was released this weekend and it incorporates updated package "under the hood" and is working towards KDE Frameworks 5 and LXQt support for Mageia 5.

Mageia 5 Alpha 2 updates against the Linux 3.15 kernel, X.Org Server 1.16, Mesa 10.2.5, and other key package upgrades. There's also packaging work done towards KDE Frameworks 5 -- and ultimately KDE Plasma 5 -- along with supporting LXQt (the Qt version of the LXDE desktop) that they hope to have complete in time for Mageia 5 official. KDE 4.13.95 and GNOME 3.13.4 and MATE 1.8.1 and Cinnamon 2.2.13 are among the other desktop choices available on this development build.

More details on Mageia 5 Alpha 2 can be found via the Mageia Wiki and the Mageia blog. Mageia 5 is planned for an official debut on 19 December.
