It looks like Tizen smartphones might finally see the light of day later in the year.

Tizen, the Linux-based OS that's a Linux Foundation project and driven by Samsung that originates from the failed Bada and MeeGo projects, might finally be taking another stab at appearing on smart-phones. All the Samsung phones that were supposed to feature Tizen (e.g. the Samsung Z) have failed to launch but now it looks like Samsung may be trying again in select markets to deliver a Tizen phone.

Tarun Malik of Samsung told The Economic Times of India about their November plans. Tarun Malik says that the company plans to introduce Tizen-based devices to the India market in November. These Tizen devices will co-exist with the Korean company's Android devices.

This launch will likely be of lower-end devices paired with Tizen, but nevertheless it will be interesting to see if the Tizen launch finally happens and how it fairs in the marketplace. Coming up next month in Shanghai is the Tizen Developer Summit so hopefully then we'll learn more details about Samsung's Tizen plans.
