As talked about with this morning's GTK+ 3.14 release is now multi-touch support and a gesture framework for this week's GNOME 3.14 debut. While there's still improvements to be made, it looks like the gestures support for the GNOME Shell is turning out well for the 3.14 version.

GNOME developer Carlos Garnacho wrote a blog post today that included a few videos showing off different gestures within the GNOME 3.14 desktop. Among the GNOME 3.14 applications to take advantage of the gestures support is the EOG image viewer and Evince document viewer. Among the gestures supported within the GNOME Shell are edge swipes, showing the overview, switching workspaces, and switching apps in a workspace.

You can checkout videos of these various gestures via Garnacho's blog post.

During the 3.15 development cycle leading up to GNOME 3.14 Carlos is planning for more gesture-related improvements to GTK+, more work needed for improving touchpad gestures handling, improvements to GNOME on Wayland, and making WebKitGTK+ more touch-screen friendly.
