IVI Shell Merged Into Wayland's Weston
Are you ready to run a reference Weston compositor implementation in your car?
The reference in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) shell has been merged into Wayland's Weston reference compositor. Going back to last year was the IVI Shell proposal for Weston with that work being done by DENSO of Japan. IVI systems is where Wayland interest has been building with GENIVI, Tizen IVI, and other vendors working on Wayland-based environments for high-end automobiles.
The Weston IVI shell is a reference environment and has undergone several revisions and finally made it into mainline Weston this morning. The reference implementation was added along with several other IVI-related changes.
This embedded vehicle shell will be found with the upcoming Wayland/Weston 1.7 release.
