Now that the Linux 3.18 kernel has been officially released, the Ubuntu kernel team will soon be landing the update inside the Ubuntu 15.04 archive.

Ubuntu 15.04, the Vivid Vervet, should soon switch from Linux 3.17 to 3.18. The minutes from today's kernel team meeting indicate that the stable kernel release is currently in their PPA for testing but should be in the Ubuntu Vivid package archive soon. They note, "we'll likely upload to the official archive soon."

The Linux 3.18 kernel brings many exciting new features. Though by the time Ubuntu 15.04 is released in April, it will have likely switched to Linux 3.19 unless there becomes major delays in the kernel's official release.
