Sdparm & ddpt Linux Disk Utilities Updated
Douglas Gilbert released updated versions of the sdparm and ddpt Linux command-line disk utilities on Saturday night.
For those out of the loop, sdparm allows for setting and getting SCSI device parameters. The ddpt utility is yet another spin-off of dd but with extra features regarding storage control. Both ddpt and sdparm work on not only Linux but also BSDs, Solaris, and even Windows.
The sdparm 1.09 release adds support for decoding Third Party Copy VPD pages, support for various other VPD pages, and other technical changes.
The ddpt 0.95 release adds oflag=verify[,bytchk] to write using the SCSI WRITE AND VERIFY command, support for a job file, it now shows percent completed for operations, adds a DDPT_DEF_BS environment variable, new --hex and --readonly options for ddptctl, and has various other changes.
