PHORONIX
Going along with Starting Off 2015 With An Improved Experience For Phoronix Readers, mobile site optimizations will hopefully come in the not too distant future.

Now having the Phoronix Premium improvements made as outlined in the aforelinked article, another work item on my lengthy TODO list is in regards to either making a separate mobile version of Phoronix.com or just optimizing the existing site layout for smartphones and tablets. Right now there's very limited differences between the desktop and mobile rendering of the site.

Mobile optimizations haven't come quicker due to lack of resources with running everything single-handedly and already clocking in about one hundred hour work weeks. Anything UI related also isn't a favorite of mine nor an area of expertise. The site regardless will continue to be powered by PHXCMS over WordPress or any other content management system. In 2015 I'll hopefully have a good working mobile implementation of Phoronix but if there's any minor tweaks or changes that would be straightforward and beneficial, I can try to address those in the near-term.

Please feel free to share your site feedback via commenting on this article, tweeting @Phoronix or @MichaelLarabel, or contacting me directly. Thanks.

This morning I did do some basic tweaks to the home page. For nostalgic Linux users, on the right hand side column I did add a "Popular Articles In The Past" box that will show the top story from 7 days ago, one month ago, one year ago, five years ago, etc, if you wish to reminisce over the past or celebrate past Linux/open-source victories and milestones.

Again, if you're a Phoronix fan please consider subscribing to Phoronix Premium with its enhanced log-in process, doing a PayPal tip, or just browsing the site without ads, as explained in the earlier article.
