Last week I wrote about AMD working on a new VA-API state tracker for Gallium3D after the original VA-API support was dropped two years ago. That new state tracker has landed in mainline Mesa Git.

Living within mainline Mesa Git is now the VA-API state tracker with work done by AMD's Christian König and Leo Liu. This work will be found in the upcoming Mesa 10.4 release.

The VA-API codec support with this state tracker is initially implemented for MPEG-2, H.264, and VC1 formats.
