XDC 2014 Kicked Off This Morning In Bordeaux

This morning the annual X.Org Developers' Conference (XDC) started in Bordeaux, France.

As of lunch time over there no live streams or YouTube recordings have appeared to make it out. Covered this morning was input related work including accessibility, libinput, and tablet device support for the Wayland protocol. Coming up this afternoon is testing-related talks and then a lot of kernel graphics sessions.

The Nouveau reverse-engineering work for NVIDIA's performance counters will be talked about by successful student developer Samuel Pitoiset, Roy Spliet will be talking about his X.Org-funded Nouveau re-clocking work, Alex Deucher will be talking about AMD's new unified open-source driver, Has de Goede will take on the backlight kernel ABI discussion, and Lauri Peltonen will talk about explicit synchronization with DRM. Peter Hutterer will also issue a "state of the X.Org Foundation" talk. Information on AMD's unified driver will come on Phoronix during Alex's talk this afternoon.

Later in the week there was scheduled to be a Wayland talk by Kristian Høgsberg, but sadly that's not happening anymore due to last minute canceling the trip to XDC/LPC. Kristian has been out of the Wayland spotlight the past few months though had been working on Intel's Skylake enablement in Mesa. Other interesting talks still on for this week at XDC Bordeaux were outlined last week.
