If you're after some metal storage cabinets for housing all your extra computer gear, the Sandusky Lee Welded Steel Classic Storage Cabinet is a winner.

With the new Phoronix office in looking for some cabinets for storing all my graphics cards, processors, and other components, rather than my long-used approach of plastic tubs with wire rack shelving, I was looking for some metal cabinets. Through Amazon I came across the Sandusky Lee Welded Steel Classic Storage Cabinet (CA41361872-09) that fit my requirements.

At first I bought just one of these cabinets but a few weeks later I ended up buying a second cabinet due to the first Sandusky cabinet working out well and suiting my requirements.

When buying the cabinets off Amazon, there's free shipping and they had arrived in just 2~3 days. The cabinets weigh over 100lbs so they're shipped via a semi-truck delivery rather than UPS/FedEx.

My first cabinet arrived without any damage while the second cabinet had a minor bump on the side, but I didn't bother trying to return it.

There's five adjustable shelves, plus the bottom shelf/base of the unit.

Metal tabs make adjusting the shelves extremely easy.

A basic metal handle/lock is on the front of the unit for basic protection.

I've been using these cabinets for a while now and they work great and have no problems storing a lot of computer gear! The only alteration I did was adding some felt pads to the bottom of the unit to prevent any possible scratches to the vinyl hardwood flooring.

Overall I'm very happy with the Sandusky Lee CA41361872-09 Welded Steel Classic Storage Cabinet -- they're very durable, reliable, and are able to accommodate a lot of PC hardware! You can buy it on Amazon.com though now are retailing for $448 a piece with free shipping (but not prime) where as when I bought the cabinets I paid $378 USD with Amazon Prime shipping. Another option is a slightly smaller Sandusky cabinet with similar specs for $311 plus free shipping.

If you have any other computer storage cabinets you recommend, office organization tips, etc, feel free to share them with fellow computer power users within our forums by commenting on this article.
