UBUNTU
The most recent move out of the Ubuntu Foundation has been the creation of an ubuntu-desktop-effects team. This group of people will focus on the integration of 3D effects into the Ubuntu desktop using Compiz, XGL, and AIGLX. At the time of posting there are currently no open bugs for this department, no support requests, and there are ten direct members. More on this desktop effects team can be found at Launchpad. Mark Shuttleworth has pointed out on his blog that they are also in need of experienced OpenGL developers. The official project announcement can be read here.
