Mozilla Is Shutting Down Persona.org Authentication System

Five years ago Mozilla launched Persona.org as a decentralized authentication system focused on privacy and utilizing the BrowserID protocol, but given its limited use, Mozilla will be putting an end to the server.

In 2014 Mozilla had handed off Persona.org to the community and eliminated their full-time involvement in the authentication system, but now they'll be eliminating the service entirely come 30 November.

After November, Mozilla will be sutting down all of the Persona.org services, Mozilla will keep the Persona.org domain and not transfer it to third-parties, and they will eliminate all of the user data built up over the years.
