NNSA & NVIDIA To Develop LLVM Fortran Compiler
The US Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration has teamed up with NVIDIA's PGI compiler division to create an open-source Fortran compiler atop LLVM.
This new Fortran front-end for LLVM will be derived from NVIDIA's PGI compiler and will be designed for use by the US National Labs like Lawrence Livermore, Sandia, and Los Alamos.
This LLVM Fortran compiler will also be designed to take advantage of GPGPU computing. More details via this press release. It's great to see LLVM finally getting some attention for Fortran.
