NetBSD 7.0-RC2 Released

For users of NetBSD, the second release candidate for its upcoming 7.0 release is now available.

NetBSD 7.0-RC2 has updates to key packages like BIND and OpenSSL, memory leak fixes in the DRM2 code, a crash fix for its ported i915 DRM/KMS driver, and a variety of other fixes throughout its kernel and the rest of the stack.

As outlined in our earlier NetBSD 7.0 posting, NetbSD 7.0 RC1 features Intel and Radeon graphics support via the ported Linux DRM/KMS kernel driver code, ARM multi-processor support, support for a number of new ARM boards, GPT support in SysVinit, Lua kernel scripting support, GCC 4.8.4 is the default compiler, and many other improvements.

More details on 7.0-RC2 are available via the NetBSD blog. No firm release date has been set for NetBSD 7.0 final, but more than likely should come in the very near future given the current release candidate.
