KDE 4.0 Release Candidate 1 "Calamity"

Today the KDE community has released KDE 4.0 Release Candidate 1. This testing release contains some additional work on Plasma and other KDE components. This also marks the first KDE 4.0 release that is suitable for the general Linux desktop audience to try out. The final release of KDE 4.0 is expected next month in time for Christmas, while the KDE 4.0 release party will be happening in January. More information on KDE 4.0 RC1 is available in the press release.
