Version 1.0.18 RC1 of ALSA was just released a month ago and it was quickly followed by a second release candidate for this Linux sound system. However, it's taken nearly a month for the third 1.0.18 release candidate to come together.

The ALSA project has announced 1.0.18 RC3, but for taking all of this time there aren't many changes to show for it. In total the ALSA utilities just have three official changes and there aren't many more on the plug-ins side. Impacting ALSA core is just a fix when using a recent version of ffmpeg, but a bulk of 1.0.18 RC3 is made up with PulseAudio to ALSA plug-in changes. While there are 26 changes for the PulseAudio plug-in, nothing from the change-log is really shocking. No ALSA driver changes are mentioned for this release.

The change-log can be read on the ALSA Project Wiki.
