Karol Herbst has sent out his latest set of 37 patches for trying to improve volting and clocking on NVIDIA GeForce 400 "Fermi" GPUs and newer.

Karol this week sent out 37 patches for volting/clocking improvements on Fermi/Kepler and he says the work is "like 95% done." This work also adds a new NvVoltOffsetmV module parameter for being able to over or under-volt the graphics processor. This over/under-volting can be used for fixing re-clocking issues by supplying more voltage to the GPU or also in the case of over/under-clocking the GPU.

Find out more about this latest reverse-engineered open-source NVIDIA driver improvements via this mailing list thread. As mentioned in Nouveau "Boost" Patches Show Much Performance Potential, Karol is hoping to see the volting/re-clocking improvements ready for Linux 4.7~4.8.
