A year after KDE 4.0 was released (with celebrations at the Google Plex) and six months after releasing KDE 4.1, the K Desktop Environment has now reached a new milestone. KDE 4.2 "The Answer" has been released, which the K Desktop Environment community is confident will even be able to satisfy the needs of normal non-technical end-users.

KDE 4.2 brings new desktop applets, the KWin window manager brings motion physics and other effects for its Linux desktop bling, the PowerDevil power manager has been introduced, and various KDE desktop applications have received their own arsenal of improvements. The KDE 4.2 press release can be read at KDE.org.

Also available for KDE 4.2 is a visual guide that shows off some of the improvements for this KDE 4 update. If continuing with their six-month release cycle, KDE 4.3 can be expected around July, but before that will be KDE 4.2.x point releases on a monthly basis.
