There's just one month and one week to the release of Ubuntu 10.10 (it's being released on 10 October, a.k.a. 10.10.10) but today the beta release of the "Maverick Meerkat" is out in the wild.

Among the changes to be found in the Ubuntu 10.10 Beta are the latest upstream innovations from GNOME 2.32, Ubuntu Software Center improvements, replacing F-Spot with the Shotwell photo manager on new Ubuntu desktop installations, polishing to Ubuntu One, new theming, and various other enhancements.

Additional details on Ubuntu 10.10 Beta can be found on this Ubuntu.com page where there are download links or in the mailing list announcement. We also have past coverage of Ubuntu 10.10 highlights such as the Btrfs installation support and the Unity Desktop.

Besides the Ubuntu desktop being marked as beta, Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu Netbook, Ubuntu UEC/EC2, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu, Ubuntu Studio, Ubuntu ARM, Mythbuntu, Kubuntu Mobile, and Kubuntu ARM have all been released as Maverick betas too.
