While there is less than two months to the release of Ubuntu 10.10 and details for Ubuntu 11.04 are already emerging (it's codenamed the Natty Narwhal), the first point release to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS is now available.

While it was challenged by delays, Ubuntu 10.04.1 was released last night to those interested in using the Lucid Lynx release for an extended period of time due to it being a Long-Term Support (LTS) release on the desktop and servers. Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS incorporates numerous package updates on the installation media that were released and pushed into the Ubuntu Lucid repository following its release in April.

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS will be officially maintained and supported by Canonical on desktops until April of 2013 while server packages will see support through 2015.

The release announcement and download links for Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS can be found on ubuntu-announce.
