The latest OpenGL 4.x extension wired up within Mesa and enabled for all present Mesa/Gallium3D drivers is GL_ARB_get_texture_sub_image.

Mesa founder Brial Paul had wired up the ARB_get_texture_sub_image support over a series of commits that were pushed today into Mesa Git master. As explained at OpenGL.org, this extension adds a function for getting the sub-regions of texture images.

The support is in Git for all of the drivers and will be present for the Mesa 10.7/11.0 release due out in September.
