For those running Intel Haswell processors, hope is not lost in seeing new versions of OpenGL extensions with the Intel Mesa driver. New patches will bring Haswell up to OpenGL ES 3.1.

Intel's Jordan Justen published a set of 16 patches for enabling OpenGL ES 3.1 with Haswell hardware. The last extensions needed were ARB_stencil_texturing and ARB_texture_stencil8. Other work is still needed for GLES 3.1 support with Ivy Bridge and Bay Trail hardware.

Hopefully these patches will be merged soon but for now you can find them via the Mesa mailing list.
