A pre-alpha version of OpenMandriva Lx 3 is now available ahead of its planned official release later in 2015.

The pre-alpha of OpenMandriva Lx 3 features X.Org Server 1.16.3 and Mesa 10.4.2 as the latest for open-source Linux graphics, KDE 4.14.3 is the desktop environment while OpenMandriva is working on migrating to KF5 + Plasma 5, SDDM is the new log-in manager, LXQt 0.8 is available as the new lightweight desktop environment, and there's various package updates.

On the Wayland front, OpenMandriva developers are planning to have support in OMA Lx 3 for the Hawaii, Papyros-OS, and Orbital shells. However, with today's pre-alpha release, only Wayland's Weston is available.

Some of the updated packages in the OpenMandriva Lx 3 pre-alpha are LibreOffice 4.3.5, Firefox 35, Java 7/8, and systemd 218.

More information on the OpenMandriva Lx 3 pre-alpha changes and more of the features planned for the official Lx3 release can be found via the OpenMandriva.org blog.
