OpenSSL Planning To Relicense Its Code
The OpenSSL project is planning to change its software license.
Currently the OpenSSL project is under its own license and the original SSLeay license, as detailed here. OpenSSL is planning to switch its license to the Apache Software License 2.0.
Moving to the Apache License 2.0 is being done to help broaden the usage of this SSL library by other free software projects and products, as outlined via this Linux Foundation press release with the financing by the LF Core Infrastructure Initiative.
More details on the planned re-licensing of the OpenSSL code-base can be found via this openssl-dev message.
