The second beta of the upcoming openSUSE 42.2 Linux distribution is now available. One notable change is that 42.2 has switched to the KDE Plasma 5.8 LTS beta.

KDE Plasma 5.8 LTS will be the default desktop for the upcoming openSUSE 42.2. This 42.2 Beta 2 has also updated to KDE Applications 16.08, KDE Frameworks 5.26, and has seen various GNOME package updates too.

KDE Plasma 5.8 is bringing a unified boot to shutdown artwork, right-to-left language support, improved desktop applets, simplified global shortcuts, better multi-screen support, and much better Wayland support. OpenSUSE 42.2 is still planning for the X11 Server by default.

The release of openSUSE Leap 42.2 remains scheduled for 16 November.
