PHORONIX TEST SUITE
Eight years to the week since the release of Phoronix Test Suite 1.0 "Trondheim" and twelve years to the week since the start of Phoronix.com, Phoronix Media today announced the release of Phoronix Test Suite 6.4 "Hasvik" as the latest version of our open-source, enterprise-rated, cross-platform benchmarking software.

Phoronix Test Suite 6.4-Hasvik is the latest quarterly stable update to our consistently leading Linux benchmarking software. The Phoronix Test Suite 6.4 release overhauls the stress-run testing functionality, improves logging options for the Phoronix Test Suite client, showcases new features in the Phoromatic Results Viewer, various hardware/software detection improvements via Phodevi, a new watchdog module, and various enhancements to the Phoromatic component of the Phoronix Test Suite.

The big focus this development cycle was on enhancing phoronix-test-suite stress-run for running multiple benchmarks simultaneously as a stress/burn-in/verification scenario rather than performance testing. A lot of improvements were made and outlined already via Further Improvements For Open-Source Stress Testing and PTS Stress-Run Continues To Mature To Push Hardware/Software To Their Limits. With Phoronix Test Suite 6.4, stress tests can also now be initiated via the Phoromatic Server from the benchmark page.

The new "watchdog" module in Phoronix Test Suite 6.4 makes it easy to watchout for system overheating to immediately suspend testing, plus other options and any available Phodevi system sensor can be monitored. Read the linked article for more details.

Among the Phoromatic Server improvements were continued polishing/fixes to the web GUI, support for editing suites from the web interface, and various other internal improvements.

One of the new Phodevi sensors added this cycle is ambient.temp for ambient system sensor monitoring. Currently supported for the ambient temperature sensor is the TEMPER USB low-cost thermometer.

Phoronix Test Suite 6.4-Hasvik also has dozens of other smaller changes and improvements for this Q2'2016 release that also marks eight years of Phoronix Test Suite releases. Phoronix Test Suite 6.4 can be downloaded via Phoronix-Test-Suite.com or GitHub.
