Jente Hidskes Continues Improving Libratbag's Piper Mouse UI, Promoted To Maintainer
The Piper mouse configuration interface to libratbag is one of the success stories from this year's Google Summer of Code and fortunately the involved student developer has continued contributing to the project.
Jente Hidskes has turned Piper into a very capable mouse configuration UI for Linux desktops / gaming systems powered by libratbag, which for now is largely limited to Logitech gaming mice.
Piper+libratbag offers a lot of features and is quite exciting for Linux gamers along with the likes of OpenRazer+Polychromatic. I recently bought a new Logitech mouse just to try out Piper, but was hitting some bugs. I hope to get back to seeing if the latest Git code works to offer a more thorough writeup of Piper's capabilities in its current state.
Jente has posted another quick update. He shares in there that thanks to GSoC, he's also now the maintainer of Piper while also contributing to libratbag in part. His most recent commits to Piper are just two days ago and can be looked at via GitHub. See this video to learn more about Piper's current features and design.
