Qt 5.5 Now Plans To Ship At The End Of June
Qt 5.5 has been running behind schedule for some time while now The Qt Company is trying to get it back on track and to officially ship Qt 5.5 by the end of next month.
Since the delayed Qt 5.5 Alpha release, the release schedule has been behind. It started out about one month behind schedule while now the Qt 5.5 beta is over two months late.
Jani Heikkinen though shared today that the beta should now ship "quite soon." In order to ship Qt 5.5 before the summer holidays, they need to now declare the string freeze for Qt 5.5 modules. They are also planning to branch quite soon after the beta release. This now puts their plans following the Qt 5.5 Beta to do a Qt 5.5 RC on 11 June and to ship the final Qt 5.5 version on 23 June.
Qt developers interested in all of the details about these latest Qt 5.5 plans can read Jani's email message. For users and developers, at least when Qt 5.5 does finally ship, it's providing a lot of new functionality.
