The Qt Project is readying the Qt 5.8.0 Alpha toolkit release.

Qt 5.8 is now under a feature freeze and working to get its release schedule back on track with hopes of releasing Qt 5.8 before Christmas.

Qt 5.8 is packing Qt Quick 2 graphics improvements, an experimental Direct3D 12 back-end for Qt Quick, updates the Qt WebEngine implementation, HTTP/2 improvements in Qt Network, improved multi-screen capabilities when using EGLFS on KMS/DRM, a new Qt Wayland Compositor, new Qt SCXML and Qt Serial Bus modules, Qt Gamepad tech preview 2, and much more.

More details on Qt 5.8 features via this Wiki page.

There are now preliminary Qt 5.8 Alpha packages available for interested users and developers to test while the official alpha announcement should be within the next few days.
