Following this week's Qt 5.6 Alpha release is some more exciting news for this open-source toolkit.

Code-Q Oy, a Finnish company, is developing a Qt Speech Recognition API for Qt. Work is still in its early stages but they have issued a "request for comments" over this new API.

The QtSpeechRecognition would load the engines as plug-ins, engines are controlled asynchronously, and there's a variety of other features. There are some known limitations right now but they also have plans for a variety of other features going forward.

Code-Q is hoping for feedback on their new Qt Speech Recognition code via this mailing list thread.

There's also been other interesting topics recently on the Qt development list too like new QtWaylandCompositor work.
