RADV Radeon Vulkan Driver Continues Building Up Features Quickly
Just earlier this week I published initial open-source benchmarks of the RADV open-source Radeon Vulkan driver that is the community-driven, unofficial AMD open-source Vulkan code-base for now. At the rate the driver is continuing to evolve, it probably won't be not more than a few days before some fresh benchmarks are warranted.
While this RADV driver is being largely developed by just David Airlie and Bas Nieuwenhuizen, it's being quick to be brought up. See the aforelinked article for more background details if you aren't familiar with RADV.
Since that earlier article there have been many Git commits in the past few days including:
- Initial DCC support.
- Various commits working on fast clears.
- Prep work for being able to support other classes of hardware, e.g. earlier GCN GPUs.
- Various fixes and more.
You can monitor the activity via this "semi-interesting" Mesa branch. There are also other code branches for RADV still being worked on around blitting, HiZ, and more.
