ReactOS 0.4.4 shipped on Thursday as the latest release for this open-source operating system seeking to implement Windows binary compatibility support.

The main user-facing addition to ReactOS 0.4.4 is basic printing support finally coming to this open-source Windows re-implementation, but so far this printer support is implemented to parallel ports. It's a nice improvement but personally I don't think I've made use of a parallel printer in the better part of twenty years.

ReactOS 0.4.4 also has improvements for running on bare metal hardware and other usability improvements.

More details on ReactOS 0.4.4 via the release announcement at ReactOS.org.
